The short version
- An individual lesson runs 30 € to 60 € an hour.
- In a group of four the cost per person drops to 12 € to 20 €.
- One lesson a week plus two matches produces steady improvement.
- The first technical changes settle over 8 to 12 sessions.
Playing more is not the same as improving more. Without correction, a badly learned stroke sets, and undoing it later takes twice as many sessions.
The formats
An individual lesson allows every stroke to be corrected with full attention and is the most efficient per hour, though also the most expensive. A pair lesson keeps much of that attention while sharing the cost. A group of four adds real game situations and is the most common club format. And one off clinics work a specific element, such as the serve or the bandeja.
| Format | Price per hour | Per person |
|---|---|---|
| Individual | 30 to 60 € | 30 to 60 € |
| Pair | 40 to 70 € | 20 to 35 € |
| Group of 3 | 45 to 75 € | 15 to 25 € |
| Group of 4 | 48 to 80 € | 12 to 20 € |
| Themed clinic | per session | 20 to 40 € |
| Book of 10 lessons | discount | 10 to 20 % |
| Court hire | sometimes included | by club |
The frequency that works
One lesson a week plus 2 matches produces sustained improvement in most players: the lesson introduces the correction and the matches consolidate it in real situations. Two lessons a week with no matches produce good strokes that do not transfer to play. And matches alone, with no correction, consolidate errors. The first technical changes start to settle between the eighth and twelfth session.
What to ask of a coach
An initial assessment with 2 or 3 concrete objectives rather than a list of twenty faults. Occasional video, because seeing your own stroke explains in 10 seconds what takes three lessons to describe. Work on positioning and decision making, not only on hitting. And exercises to practise alone between sessions, even if it is 15 minutes against a wall before a match.
A good indicator of progress is not winning more matches but making fewer unforced errors in the same recurring situations.
Changing format as you improve
In the first months, a small group to build fundamentals and play plenty. When a specific technical problem refuses to resolve, 2 or 3 individual lessons focused on that stroke deliver more than 10 in a group. And at upper intermediate level, alternate: a weekly group for volume of play and a monthly individual to refine. That pattern keeps the cost at roughly 60 € to 120 € a month.
